Nepalese Society for Children's Literature
Publishes children's books
Organizes its annual conference every year.
Publishes annual journal of the Society Bal-Sahitya ( Children's Literature). Papers, short notes on children's literature and reading as well as books. Reviews can be sent to: The Chief Editor Bal-Sahitya, GPO Box: 1488, Kathmandu, Nepal.
Publishes NESCHIL newsletter to keep its members and others informed about the activities in children's literature and reading. News about Nepalese children's literature and reading in particular can be sent to the General Secretary of
NESCHIL.
Organizes lectures and talk programmes on various aspects of children's literature and reading.
Gives awards and prizes to the writers and illustrator of the best children's boks of the year. Though we try our best to collect Nepalese books for children don't forget to send your publication to Nepalese Society for children's literature before the end of the Nepali calendar year.
In order to develop reading habits in children the society has started Children's Reading Programme as a national campaign. It aims at establishing libraries in the schools and community centres and extending children's sections in the existing libraries. This was started in 1993 with initial supports from the BOOKS FOR ALL and UNICEF.
Society is planning to produce Information Books for children with colourful pictures on natural resources, cultural heritage and industrial product etc. with sponsorships from various organizations and enterprises. With this aim this society has published Nepali Bal Bishwakosh (Nepali Children;s Encyclopedia) in 2003 (2060 B.S.)
