Established in 1987 AD with a view to promote Children's Literature and reading activities in Nepal bringing together the writers, illustrators, editors of Children's books as well as publishers, librarians, teachers, and experts involved in Children's activities.

Since 2006 NESCHIL has been the member of International Board on Books for Young IBBY and working as Nepal section of IBBY (NBBY).
